From planning to action
The boundary area between the city of Bogotá and the eastern forest, known as the foot of the slope or regional ecotone, was composed of the greatest diversity of high Andean forest. However, at various historical moments it underwent alterations and it is, nowadays, the most degraded area of ??the entire ecosystem, exposed to high urbanization pressure.
The proposal of a socioecological corridor in the hills of Bogotá proposes the largest pact on the edge of the city, a large living project of regenerative planning that seeks, in an inclusive manner, to restore biodiversity as a strategy of social development and territorial appropriation on the part of the communities.
In this proposal, the citizens are protagonists of the transformation of its edge, by means of three strategies: the first one, the citizen agreements that intend to integrate the initiatives in the matter of sustainable management, environmental education programs, culture, patronage and collaborative networks; the second, the ecological strategy, seeks to implement actions for conservation, preservation and sustainable use, within the framework of inclusive and participatory practices that contribute to the consolidation and connectivity of the corridors of the hillside; and, finally, the spatial strategy, which pursues the consolidation of a continuous, connected and articulating area that integrates the network of ecorrutas and the existing roads in a permeable way to the city and the reserve.
