Santa Ana de los Cuatro Ríos de Cuenca: an outstanding management of its hidrological resources.
This article pays homage to the city of Cuenca in Ecuador. Cuenca (470.000 inhabitants), the third most populated city in the country deserves it, because its outstanding policies in the managing of its hydrological resources, fostering trough an integrated managing plan, the natural aspects that rivers contribute for the territory, biological aspects such as corridors that promote these rivers, other aspects attached to the green infrastructure that is currently developed by the municipality, without forgetting the aesthetical aspects like the linear parks, that offer theses rivers and the overwhelming environmental education possibilities, that will warrant a deep respect for these ecosystems by future generations.After a brief introduction of physical, historical, socio-cultural and demographical parameters about the city, our methodology will study the different aspects that a good management of the 4 rivers of Cuenca represents, for an improvement of the quality of life of its citizens. The review of this aspects is going to be only indicative rather that extensive, due to the limited length of our article. But nevertheless, they will be presented as a gear linking of items, thus well coordinated, propel this city, paradigmatic example of intermediate city, into a future based on a sustainable growth.

Planur-e: www.planur-e.es es una revista digital editada en España en materias de territorio, urbanismo, sostenibilidad, paisaje y diseño urbano.
