Boca de la Mina promenade in Reus
Recovering an emblematic promenade, promoting new uses and making it accessible to all.The aim of the Boca de la Mina Promenade project is to condition and dignify a space of great natural, heritage and sentimental value, and to promote all the uses that contribute to maintaining the identity of the place. This involves consolidating it as a space for recreation, for sport and health, for activities of knowledge and discovery of the environment, and to promote its cultural and historical values.
The new section of the promenade is based on the need to generate a good drainage system by means of plant ditches on both sides of the road. These new ditches lead the water to retention and filtration points or return it to the two existing ravines. Only in the last instance is the water directed to the public network, thus avoiding overloading it and returning the water to the environment, helping to maintain the natural cycle.
One of the main criteria of the proposal is to maintain the original character of the promenade. In this way, the protagonist of the project continues to be the existing group of trees and the main material of the path is sablon. As a complementary material that configures the new integration in this environment, traditional solid brick has been used, in different formats and arrangements depending on the situation and use of each point. Its use is not limited to the paving but also serves to configure the rest of the elements of the promenade.

Planur-e: www.planur-e.es es una revista digital editada en España en materias de territorio, urbanismo, sostenibilidad, paisaje y diseño urbano. Cuenta ya con un número importante artículos alrededor de 150, hasta el momento, y con autores de muy distintos países, lo que enriquece su tarea de divulgación.
