Tominé Reservoir Regional Park (Colombia)
Landscape of Life and the sacred value of nature
In the heart of the savannah of Bogotá, Colombia there is a beautiful territory steeped in life. Of energy. A very special place. An imposing body of water that reminds us that this beautiful savannah is more alive than ever. That place is the Tominé Reservoir, a water reservoir created in 1962, which has become a source of life and energy for everyone.
The Tominé Reservoir Regional Park (PRET) has been conceived as the possibility of connecting with nature in a space of extraordinary dimensions. This site is a cultural landscape, it is a project in progress, bearing the traces of the pre-Hispanic territory and the actions of today.
The Tomine Park approach starts from "Landscapes of life, the sacred value of nature" is a process of recovery, healing and renovation of the landscape on a large scale, recovering not only the health and biodiversity of ecosystems, but also the spirit and imagination of the people who will use the park.
The park also has that millenary essence, each corner seems to have a history associated with the Muiscas that evokes admiration and respect, respect for the environment and for people ... respect for Mother Nature.
It is in her nature and respect for her that many of our efforts are focused. The Tominé park will be a reference for the care of biodiversity, the protection of water and the functional connection of all with this ecosystem, because it is in this connection that we see the future.
The Covid-19 pandemic has many lessons to teach us, how the territory, cities, towns, will rethink the infrastructure in the coming days, months, years. This will be one of the most urgent tests of urban resilience and planetary healing. Nature parks will be part of the answer!
